15/05/04 Liverpool 1 Newcastle Utd 1. NUFC led from the 25th to 66th minute, ensuring an enjoyable & loud time for all Singapore Mags watching the match Live with the L'pool fans in Penny Black ! Shola Ameobi fired the ball home from a Lee Bowyer though ball, & whilst we conceded one & held out for the draw, it was enough to claim 5th place & UEFA Cup football again next season! Cheers to all who made the effort and came down for the match, chanting till we lost our voices. Ahead a summer break with Euro 2004, and lots of local soccer for the NUFCsg team, and hopefully some major close season signings by the Toon. HOWAY-THE-LADS!! Proud to be a Geordie!

12/05/04 S'oton 3 Newcastle 3 All out NUFC attack & our first 3-goals at S'oton for 67 years, wasn't enough to keep us in contention for 4th place: 7mins: Ameobi put us ahead, 19mins: S'oton level, 35mins: Bowyer restores our lead, 39mins: Bramble scores own-goal, 88mins: S'oton go ahead, 90mins: Ambrose pulls NUFC level. Neutrals called it the game of the season. One game remains, we now fight for 5th place UEFA Cup qualification & need the win on Saturday v L'pool. So lets give them the support they need, LIVE at Penny Black, 10.00pm.

09/05/04 Newcastle 1 Wolves 1 One point gained, but 2 lost in the race for 4th place. Bowyer grabbed his first toon goal on 38 mins, only to see Wolves equalise & Shearer miss a penalty in the 2nd Half. We now need win at S'oton and L'pool to secure 4th place.

NUFCsg 0 Red"SAF" 3 After conceding 3 first half goals, the lads faught back with a better display in the 2nd half, but were unable to score.

06/05/04 Marseille 2 Newcastle 0 Semi-Final exit for the Toon as our run of 12 games undefeated in the UEFA Cup ends. With Bellamy, Jenas, Dyer and Woodgate all missing NUFC weren't able to field our strongest 11. But the season is far from over, with 9 points from our 3 remaining games a must to secure the riches of the Champion's League & some major signings for next season. So.. HOWAY-THE-LADS!

02/05/04 NUFCsingapore 3 Central Park FC 3 Another highly motivated display by the lads playing at Marina South pitch on Sunday, leading 2-0 after only 15 minutes, then to be 2-3 down with 15 minutes to go. A strong fighting attitude saw us grab an equaliser, then going on to threaten to win the game. Goals courtesy of Dino, Omar & Tony. Next match: 9th May 9am Venue: Ubi Field. Howay-the-Lads!

01/05/04 Man City 1 Newcastle 0 An NUFC team depleted by injuries to Jenas, Dyer, Woodgate, Bellamy, and Bowyer couldn't grab a crucial 3 points at Man City. Despite 6 shots on target versus only one by City in the 1st half, the 2nd half was another story, as a tired looking NUFC further lost the services of Robert and Ameobi. So we lose our game in hand advantage over those around us, whilst the other teams all took 3 points this weekend, the final match v Liverpool increasing with importance all the time. Howay-the-Lads!

25/04/04 Newcastle 2 Chelsea 1 We take all 3 points & move back into joint 4th with a game in hand! A great strike by Shola Ameobi on 41 mins, an awesome shot from Al Shearer on 47 mins, plus an incredible save by Given, all won us the match. Shearer could even afford a miss from 5 yards out that hit the corner flag later in the game! An injury to Woodgate means we now have five 1st team players out injured at a very important time for the club. HOWAY-THE-LADS!!

25/04/04 NUFCsingapore 5 Blue 3 Strong display by the NUFCsingapore lads as well taken goals by Keegan, Dino and Omar (3!) saw us leading 5-1! A few mistakes by the ref couldn't stop the lads from notching up their 2nd friendly victory on a very hot Sunday morning. Well done to all! Next friendly is at Marina South, 3.00pm Sunday 2nd May, join us! HOWAY-THE-LADS!!

22/04/04 Newcastle 0 Marseille 0 Shola Ameobi, Alan Shearer, Gary Speed, Michael Bridges and Andy O'Brien all came close but the Toon were held to a goal-less draw at St James' Park. More importantly Marseille were unable to claim an away goal (despite Robert giftng them the ball) and must win in the return leg in order to progress, where as NUFC only require a draw, and we will be all out to score that crucial away goal to get us through to the final! With any luck , Dyer, Jenas and Bellamy may me back from injury by then. Next up, Chelsea at home, LIVE on TV, as we head into another top of the table premiership clash. Join us in SODs! HOWAY-THE-LADS!!

18/04/04 Aston Villa 0 Newcastle 0 Toon play with 10 men for 80 mins with Andy O'Brien red carded, only to give a solid fight to Villa! We take the point & stay joint 4th with a game in hand on our rivals, but Bellamy forced off with hamstring injury makes him a doubt for the UEFA Cup Semi-Final, with Bridges looking a good replacement based on a solid performance as sub. Cheers to all who joined us in SODs for the Match! Good turn-out! HOWAY-THE-LADS!!

14/04/04 Newcastle 2 PSV Eindhoven 1 NUFC are into the Semi-Finals of the UEFA Cup for the 1st time in 35 years after knocking out PSV 3-2 on aggregate! A perfect start saw Shearer head Newcastle in front after nine minutes when he powered home a near post corner from Laurent Robert.PSV were level five minutes after half-time when Kezman equalised from the penalty spot following Olivier Bernard's foul on Ji-Sung Park. But Speed confirmed a last four clash with Marseille by heading home another Robert corner after 66 minutes. The Semi-Final 1st leg is next Thursday (22nd) at St. James' Park, with the return in Marseille two weeks later. HOWAY-THE-LADS!!

11/04/04 Newcastle 0 Arsenal 0 A solid defensive display by the Toon kept Henry & Co goalless as the points were shared on a difficult St James' Park pitch, roared on by the Toon Army, live on TV! Our best chance a back flick by Bellamy which was just kept out by their keeper. The draw sent NUFC level on points with fourth-place Liverpool, who lead Sir Bobby Robson's side narrowly on goal difference. Next up: PSV in the Uefa Cup Qtr-Final 2nd Leg! HOWAY-THE-LADS!!

08/04/04 PSV Eindhoven 1 Newcastle 1 Jermaine Jenas' equaliser in first-half injury time gave the Toon the upper hand in this 1st leg Quarter Final Uefa Cup tie. Jenas headed home Laurent Robert's free-kick to equalise after PSV's Kezman had scored from the edge of the area after a costly slip from Aaron Hughes. Newcastle have now scored in every game in European competition this season! So its all set up for the return leg at St James' Park, with an away goal in our favour. HOWAY-THE-LADS!!

03/04/04 Newcastle 4 Everton 2 NUFC stay in the race for 4th place as Big Al grabs two! 5 mins: Craig Bellamy puts Newcastle ahead, 12 mins: Everton equalises 21 mins: Kieron Dyer restores Newcastle's lead with a "header" 52 mins: Alan Shearer scores Newcastle's third 81 mins: Everton pull a goal back 90 mins: Shearer seals victory for Newcastle, and all Live on TV here in Singapore! We now play Sir Bobby's old club PSV Eindhoven in the Quarter Finals on April 8th & 14th. The Toon are the only English team now in the UEFA Cup. HOWAY-THE-LADS!!

20/03/04 Newcastle 3 Charlton 1 Shearer led from the front as we leapfrogged Charlton to keep our Champions League hopes alive! 53secs: Shearer heads Newcastle ahead, 34 mins: Newcastle double their lead as Perry clearance hits Jenas, 54 mins Charlton pulls one back, 80 mins Shearer buries penalty to make it 3-1. Toon are now joint 4th on 45 points. HOWAY-THE-LADS!!

(we hope!) 57 mins: Correa scores for Mallorca, 67 mins: Bellamy slots in an equaliser, 71 mins: Shearer scores, 74 mins: Robert strikes with a free-kick, 83 mins: Moya gets his marching orders, 84 mins: Bramble completes the scoring. The away leg is 25th March, with PSV or Auxerre waiting in the next round. We will never have a better chance of progressing. HOWAY-THE-LADS!!

03/03/04 Newcastle 3 Valerenga 1 (4-2 on aggregate) NUFC make it to the last 16 and the 4th round of the UEFA Cup with a lucky display against a plucky Norwegian opponent. 20 mins: Shearer fires Newcastle ahead, 25 mins: Valerenga equalise, 47 mins: Ameobi's shoots home, 89 mins: Ameobi nets his second. Craig Bellamy, scorer in our previous 4 games, is now injured however. We now face Real Mallorca on March 11th & 25th, with PSV or Auxerre waiting in the Quarter Finals. A good draw which we can hopefully take advantage of. HOWAY-THE-LADS!

21/02/04 Portsmouth 1 Newcastle 1 Goals by 2 Newcastle players only served to beg the question, what's going on?! A great Bellamy strike gave us the lead till the 89th minute, when upstepped our own Lua Lua, on loan at Pompey, to bang the ball beyond Given! Who allowed one of our own players to play against us, in an act that may cost us 4th place at the end of the season? Must be the same guy who fluffed Lee Bowyer's UEFA registration, amongst a long list of similar administrative errors. Luckily we retain 4th place, so it could have been worse! HOWAY-THE-LADS!!

25/02/04 Valerenga 1 Newcastle 1 Sir Bobby rested key players Shearer, Dyer and Robert as the Toon dominated the first half, only to be outplayed in the second. Newcastle never look right without Al Shearer up front, and he was rested for the full 90 mins. 39 mins: Bellamy scores seconds after Speed's shot is cleared off the line
54 mins: Valerenga drew level. Return leg at St James' Park next Wednesday. Howay-the-lads!

21/02/04 Newcastle 2 Boro 1 An Alan Shearer penalty gave NUFC all 3 points at St James' Park! Shearer smashed home the winner late in the second-half after Darren Ambrose was fouled by Southgate. 33 mins: Zenden scores from the left-edge of the area, 63 mins: Bellamy taps home the equaliser, 83 mins: Shearer scores from the spot. We move back into 4th place! Cheers to those who joined us at SODs to watch it, a small but dedicated bunch of fans, as we hope for a bigger attendance next time! HOWAY-THE-LADS!!

11/02/04 Blackburn 1 Newcastle 1 . The returning Craig Bellamy had put Newcastle in front on 52 mins by sweeping home his first Premiership goal since March after good work from Alan Shearer, only for the Toon to concede one 5 minutes from full time. Shearer nearly won it in stoppage time but his shot through a crowd of players was saved by Friedel. We are now 5th in the league, level with 4th place L'pool on 38 points.Howay-the-lads!

08/02/04 Newcastle 3 Leicester 1 NUFC climb to 4th in the league after securing all 3 points at St James Park. 30 mins: Shola Ameobi puts Newcastle ahead, 37 mins: Taggart own goal makes it 2-0 to Newcastle, 59 mins: Jenas scored Newcastle's third goal, 80 mins: Old boy Les Ferdinand pulls one back for Leicester, warmly applauded by the Toon Army. Meanwhile Bellamy and Geordie boy Michael Bridges (pic left) came on in the 79th minute for Shola and Al Shearer, and almost score another! HOWAY-THE-LADS!!

01/02/04 NUFCsingapore 1 Spider 1 On the local friendly scene, the NUFCsingapore lads faught hard to earn a draw against local team Spider. Conceding from a corner in the 1st half, the lads faught back to force a penalty minutes later, Keegan firing home from the spot. Thereafter both sides went close, but NUFCsg had the better chances, Dino going close when one-on-one with the keeper. It was a great turn-out by all in the NUFCsg team for our first match of 2004. The new EPL fan club league is set to kick-off in March. Watch this space for further news! Meanwhile soccer training continues every Sunday. Howay-the-lads!

31/01/04 Birmingham 1 Newcastle 1 Gary Speed fired us into the lead early on 37 mins and we were set for all 3 points until an abysmal refereee decision to award a free kick against Craig Bellamy, then poor self control by Viana and some desperate defending saw Birmingham pull level on 92 mins. Ambrose had a quiet game, but a distinct lack of activity down our right wing reminded us how important Solano had been to us. Luckily those around us in the league also faultered, and we remain in the hunt for 4th Place. Cheers to all who joined us at SODs for the match. Howay-the-Lads!

29/01/04 Nobby Solano SOLD!! Fans globally are in shock at the news that one of best servants at the club has been sold to Aston Villa, not only sold, but sold for only 1.5million pounds! Solano is quite simply one of the best players we had in the side. It is not so long ago the team were floundering without the ever-dependable Peruvian out on the right wing. A player who cost us 2.5 million originally and who is worth far more than the player presently ocuppying the opposing wing who we bought for 10 million! Sold for the PLC and business?!? Well, he wasn't sold on a footballing basis, as there is no better right winger currently playing in the Premiership! Congratulations to Villa. Geordies will always be sure to give him a warm welcome whenever he returns to St James'. Farewell Nobby Solano, we salute you, all the best mate.

24/01/04 Liverpool 2 Newcastle 1 FA Cup dreams end for another year as the Toon concede two at Anfield. After an early L'pool goal, a classic Robert 25 yard freekick got NUFC back into it, Dyer, Jenas and Shearer then went close, but it wasn't enough. Cheers to all who joined us at SODs for a great night as we were joined by the L'pool fan club, Geordies and Scousers singing at each other all night. Next up: Birmingham City LIVE on STAR Sports next weekend. Howay-The-Lads!

19/01/04 Newcastle 3 Fulham 1 Laurent Robert's reverse over-head kicked goal capped an impressive 4000th league win! NUFC were 2-0 up at half-time after Andy O'Brien swivelled to crash the ball into the net and Gary Speed headed home a Solano corner. 4 mins: O'Brien gives us the lead, 41 mins: Another NUFC corner sees Speed add a second, 54 mins: Robert's wonder goal puts Newcastle in control, and all live on STAR Sports here in Singapore! We move into 5th in the Premiership, & are still in contention for 4th spot. Howay-The-Lads!

12/01/04 Man U 0 Newcastle 0 NUFC dominate the first half with defensive discipline and solid attacking, Al Shearer being denied a certain penalty after being fouled in the box by Howard. 25 mins: Shearer has a penalty appeal turned down, 56 mins: Jenas headers against the bar, 66 mins: Silvestre goal disallowed. So its one away point gained, and we stay in 7th place in the Premiership. We next play Fulham, LIVE on ESPN. HTL!

07/01/04 Newcastle 1 Leeds 0 Toon remain firmly in the hunt for a Champions League place after Alan Shearer put us in front with an early goal, firing the ball home from 16 yards. 4 mins: Shearer opens the scoring, 20 mins: Robinson saves from Jenas, 33 mins: Leeds keeper blatantly fowls Dyer in box, but no penalty, 61 mins: Speed heads onto the woodwork. NUFC are now 6th in the premiership on 29 points, 3 points off 4th place. Next up: Man Utd away. Howay-The-Lads!

03/01/04 Southampton 0 Newcastle 3 Kieron Dyer struck his first goals of the season as Newcastle responded to a midweek ear-bashing by chairman Freddie Shepherd by cruising to an 3rd round FA Cup victory. 24 mins: Dyer fires home from Hughes cross, 39 mins: Robert drills left-foot shot past Niemi, 67 mins: Fine individual goal from Dyer seals victory.. and all live on TV here in Singapore! NUFC could have had 5 or 6 goals by the end as we ran rampant in our 1st victory at S'oton in 30 years. Its Liverpool (a) in the 4th round. HTL!

28/12/03 Newcastle 0 Blackburn 1 No Shay Given heroics or late strike from Darren Ambrose to save us this time as the Toon lost 3 points to a goal scored by the hand of a Blackburn player. A 1st match start for Michael Chopra showed some signs of promise, Chopra smacking in a 43rd minute goal but drifting marginally offside. Shearer also went close with two powerful headers, only to be denied by Friedel. Not our day, a defensive horror show again. Luckily those around us in the league also faultered.

26/12/03 Leicester 1 Newcastle 1 Darren Ambrose hit a last-minute equaliser, as the Toon dominated for the first hour, only for the Foxes to strike first after a defensive lapse by Hughes and Bernard in the second half . On 67 mins: Leicester ahead, 90 mins: Darren Ambrose equalised with his first league goal for the Toon. Woodgate looks set to return for our next game after Bobby recognises defensive lapses. Toon stay 6th in the league. HTL!

20/12/03 Chartlon 0 Newcastle 0 The Toon come away from London with a point after keeper Shay Given kept the home side at bay. Given produced some fine saves to frustrate Charlton while the Toon played mostly on the counter-attack, with last week's hero Laurent Robert almost scoring, only to see a shot cleared off the line. HTL!

13/12/03 Newcastle 4 Spurs 0 Laurent Robert scored two contenders for goal of the season and made two other goals for Alan Shearer as Newcastle hammered Spurs 4-Nil. On 35 mins: Robert scores a stunning goal. 55 mins: Robert scores an even better one. 59 mins: Shearer slots home a third. 66 mins: Shearer is on target again!! NUFC move back to 5th place. HOWAY-THE-LADS!!

6/12/03 Newcastle 1 Liverpool 1 A game we should have won, so 2 points lost rather than 1 point gained. 6 mins: Bramble mistake gifts L'pool an early opener. 62 mins: Shearer levels from penalty spot, with Big Al & Nobby going close there-after as we dominated the second half.

7/12/03 NUFCsingapore 3 Orange 1 The lads achieved a victory in only our 2nd ever friendly match! A great display, goals from Tim, Dino and Alvin, with a penalty save by our Keeper too! Well done to all..we salute you.. HOWAY-THE-LADS!

30/11/03 NUFCsingapore 3 Spider 6 The NUFCsingapore team turned out for its 1st friendly game against local side Spider with a very promising display! Conceding an early goal, the lads fought back as the team slowly began to gell together, Keegan scoring from a 20 yard free kick, Dino adding another in the second half after a quick counter attack, and Keegan scoring from the penalty spot after 'going down' in the box. Some dubious referee decisions didn't deter the lads from a very competitive display. HOWAY-THE-LADS!!

29/11/03 Wolves 1 Newcastle Utd 1 Alan Shearer struck his 12th Premiership goal of the season to equalise four minutes after Wolves had taken a first-half lead. Newcastle dominated the 2nd half with Shearer always threatening, but could only secure a point, this after being forced to play less than 48 hours after the Uefa Cup win against Basle. Thanks to all who joined us at SODs for this live match! HOWAY-THE-LADS!!

22/11/03 Newcastle United 3 Man City 0 Alan Shearer's late double took his career tally to 255 top-flight goals, with 100 under Bobby Robson. Shearer finished City off after Shola Ameobi's third goal in five Premiership matches had put the Toon in the driving seat 12 minutes into the second half. So 3 points for us, sixth place in the Premiership, and with Jonny Wilkinson of Newcastle Falcons winning the Rugby World Cup for England too, what a weekend! HOWAY-THE-LADS!!

01/11/03 Newcastle United 1 Aston Villa 1 A Laurent Robert equaliser on the stroke of half time ensured NUFC moved to 7th place in the premiership, altho Al Shearer's miss from the penalty spot in the second half was symptomatic of the Toon's display, with many chances but an inability to convert them into goals. After our mid-week stumble in the league cup v WBA, this week we now focus our attention to the UEFA Cup away league against Swiss side FC Basle. HOWAY-THE-LADS!!

Football Session: Sunday, 2nd of November @ 3.45PM at Little India MRT (Buffalo Rd exit), start playing around 4pm at Farrer Park just off Northumberland Rd. Open to any Newcastle Fan registered with NUFCsingapore (so email us today!) NB: This is solely for fans of NUFC, so no non-fan mates please. Boots and Shin Pads are now essential kit. Howay-The-Lads!!

25/10/03 Newcastle United 3 Portsmouth 0 Gary Speed's first goal in 21 games, an Alan Shearer penalty, and then Shola Ameobi completing the scoring after the break, whilst Bowyer and Robert had great games, as the Toon hit form. Even without Bellamy, Dyer, Woodgate and Solano, we were simply too strong for Pompey, who forced only one save and one further moment of discomfort for Shay Given, as Newcastle move up into the 8th place in the premiership table. HOWAY-THE-LADS!!

22/10/03 Fulham 2 Newcastle United 3 Shearer!! -scored 2 & set up a 3rd - as he moved into 2nd place above legend Len White in the all-time top NUFC Scorers on 154 Toon goals. NUFC went down 2-0 in the first 8 minutes as NUFC old boys, Geordie Lee Clark and Louis Saha struck. But NUFC stepped up a gear, Ameobi crossed from the right and Robert and Shearer played a one-two before the Frenchman crashed the ball home on the half-volley. Big Al then cracked home a penalty, followed by an 56th minute strike from 8 yards out, to grab all three points in London and put NUFC into 10th place in the Premiership. HOWAY-THE-LADS!!

19/10/03 Boro 0 Newcastle United 1 Shola Ameobi, playing in place of the injured Bellamy, fires the Toon to an away victory at smog central! A Lee Bowyer cross found Shearer at the far post who headed back into the danger area, where Speed got a touch before Ameobi fired into the net. Three consecutive clean sheets for the Toon (and 5th in six games) and the three points propel us up the table to 11th! HTL!!

26/09/03 NAC Breda 0 Newcastle United 1 A Laurent Robert strike in the final minutes secured a victory and a 6-0 win on aggregate as Newcastle progress into the UEFA Cup 2nd round draw! The Toon, resting key players Alan Shearer, Gary Speed and Shay Given, never looked under threat playing away in the Netherlands in what was none-the-less a difficult european away game. A secure display with one or two good chances to score had Sir Bobby satisfied, this being the 100th Newcastle victory under his management! Next up - Boro away on Saturday. HTL!!

04/10/03 Newcastle United 1 Southampton 0 Alan Shearer scored his 250th career league goal and United's 4000th home league goal with an awesome first touch strike from a penetrating Jenas through ball, as the Toon took all 3 points in their first win of the season! We had several chances to score more, but were held at bay by the S'oton keeper, as the Geordie crowd rawed their support for Sir Bobby and the lads after a tough week for the club. Cheers to all who joined us at SODs for a great night watching the match live on big screen! We now play NAC Breda in the away leg of the UEFA Cup on Wednesday night. HOWAY-THE-LADS!!

26/09/03 Arse 3 NUFC 2 A battling toon display all over the pitch was undone by a bad Bramble challenge, whilst Jenas gave away a handball in the area & presented Arsenal with a penalty & 3 points. A determined NUFC team faught non-stop, grabbing two well taken goals through Robert & Bernard. But the Toon conceded via a hashed miskick, a set piece & a penalty, when we could, & should, have left with a point. So its 3 points from 6 games in the league, but we have scored 7 goals in our last two games. An inform Southampton are up next at St James' Park (Live Match), our traditional bogey team. There is no room for further error, or acceptance of any bad luck. HTL!!

24/09/03 Newcastle Utd 5 NAC Breda 0 Uefa Cup 1st Round: NUFC Premiership Class: 31 mins: Bellamy scores after being set up by Shearer, 36 mins: Bellamy gets his second from a Robert cross, 58 mins: Bramble gets his first goal for the Magpies, 76 mins: Shearer strikes from outside the box, 89 mins: Ambrose opens his Newcastle account late on. Our first home win of the season. Newcastle took Breda apart, showing the difference in class between the Premiership and the Dutch league. Lets just hope we can carry this on into the Premiership. Maybe, finally, United's season is underway. Howay-the Lads!!

20/09/03 Newcastle Utd 0 Bolton Wanderers 0 The Toon are held by Bolton, Speed and Bramble going close as Newcastle dominated for long spells but couldn't get through the visitors, who packed 10 men behind the ball and played for the point. Basically a strategy which most visiting teams (except the championship contenders) are adopting when they come to St James Park, closing down space, and getting everyone back behind the ball defending. Three points from 5 games, and Arsenal next, but hopefully things improve fast with NAC Breda on Wednesday in theUEFA Cup

13/09/03 Everton 2 Newcastle Utd 2 A scrappy game, NUFC twice took the lead through two ice cool penalties by Al Shearer, only for Everton to equalise each time. After Robert was sent off, 10-man NUFC seemed to be more fired up, but a flurry of yellow cards and some poor passing by both teams meant a less than fluent encounter. So, an away point gained, but it was almost three until Jenas gave away a penalty in the final minutes. Next match, Bolton at home.

12/09/03 Alan Shearer, Toon player for life.. Big Al agrees an extension to his contract set to take him to end of the 2004/2005 season, quashing the pathetic rumours in the press that he was going to leave us at the end of the season. As if the No1 Geordie in the World would ever leave Newcastle! The contract extension will see Al still playing for the Toon till he is 35, and then, who knows! The greatest No9 we have ever had? Well, I will be thankful I witnessed his full fantastic playing career in Black and White, having not been around to see the likes of Hughie Gallagher, Jackie Milburn or SuperMac work their magic. SHEARER!!

30/08/03 : NUFC 0 Birmingham 1 Poor display, slightly questionable team selection, bad tackle from Gary Speed giving away the penalty (showing up his lack of pace at left back), poor penalty by Birmingham being saved by Given, only for Birmingham to be on hand with 3 players queuing up for the rebound to score (no Newcastle player bothered to charge forward to assist in any possible clearance). Basically, something is wrong with attitudes and minds, with the exception of Big Al Shearer & Shamus Given. So thats 2 players, we just need 9 more with real guts and a fighting spirit so that we can actually win a game. Bobby has 2 weeks to fix the team before we go to an efficient looking Everton side refreshed with new signings. Hopes: drop Jenas and Viana, play Bowyer in the middle, bring back Lua Lua, and hope Bellamy & Woodgate are fit too.

27/08/03 Newcastle United 0 . Party-in-Belgrade 1 (3-4 on penalties). Ooops. No big summer signings, lethargic french wingers, poor defence, under-achieving young future prospects, recrimination after recrimination.... heard it all. The UEFA Cup... canny competition, not exactly loads of $ coming our way now, but at least we have a more realistic chance to win the ******* cup! Plus after losing to Man U, a not so great display versus Leeds and only one point attained in the League, hopefully the shock and reality of this defeat will go some way to assisting those that have the honour to wear the Black & White Shirts in giving themselves a good kick up their own well paid back-sides. Our UEFA Cup participation commences on 24th September.. as we wonder if they will still wear the new silver away kit. Anyway, here's to a huge Toon backlash this coming Saturday as we return to League action..... watch out Birmingham City... we hope....! TOON TOON.. Shamus O'Donnells, our beloved club house, here we come. I need a drink.

23/08/03 : Newcastle United 1 MU 2 Shearer gets a goal, Fergie gets sent off, and Michael Chopra is given his chance as a second half sub, and almost grabs a goal, but the gap between us and them still remains as the Toon couldn't impose any control over the game in the 2nd half, our cause not aided by the abscence of Woodgate & Bellamy. We're still not the finished product and it seems the close season free capture of Bowyer, who had yet another ineffectual game out on the right wing (don't sell Nobby Bobby!) just isn't going to be enough to make any difference. On the up side.. Ferguson now faces a fine and a warning from the FA, Uriah Rennie loves Alan Shearer and Jeff Winter is a Mag. So have faith.. the impossible is possible!! Howay-the-Lads!

17/08/03 Leeds 2 Newcastle 2 Alan Shearer struck twice to get our first point of the season away at Elland Road. After leading 1-0, two lapses by Bernard & Speed led to the Leeds goals, whilst the Toon took their own chances well in a never say die display. Lets remember this was an away match, and Leeds were never going to be the pushovers they were previously. Sir Bobby's triple substitution bringing on Solano, Ameobi and Jenas saw NUFC go at Leeds relentlessly in the hunt for an equaliser. Once achieved, we looked good to take all 3 points in the final minutes of this pulsating encounter. A massive cheers to all who joined us for the match live at Shamus O'Donnells - a GREAT turnout and what an atmosphere it was!! HOWAY-THE-LADS !!

14/08/03 : Partizan Belgrade 0 Newcastle United 1 A Nobby Solano goal in the first half coupled with the heroics of Shay Given, who made incredible often point blank saves to deny a Partizan side who looked set to equalise, saw the Toon grab a valuable away result in Belgrade! NUFC now look well set for the return leg at St James' on Aug 27th. It was a good result on Alan Shearer's birthday, whilst the referee handed out yellow cards as if they were birthday cards, 5 United players being booked after some baffling decisions by the official. The game also saw Gary Speed make his 27th european appearance, whilst the Toon wore the silver champions league away kit for the first time, reminiscent of the away kit of the mid 1980's. HOWAY THE LADS!!

Straits Times Feature on NUFC fans in Singapore: Friday 15th Aug, 7pm, Shamus O'Donnells Irish Pub - wear your NUFC shirt (and the Newcastle Brown Ale one if you have it) and get in the pic for this weekend's Sunday Times. 06/08/03 Newcastle 2 Bayern Munich 2 The final pre-season friendly before the start of our champions league campaign saw Big Al Shearer grab 2 great goals as NUFC almost got a victory over German Champions Bayern Munich, whilst a great reception for Lee Bowyer by the St James' faithfull brought a smile to Sir Bobby's face. England midfielder Owen Hargreaves scored one of the Bayern goals, then announced after the match he would like to play for the Toon one day! Meanwhile with Partizan Belgrade gaining a 2-2 draw at Djurgårdens IF of Sweden in the Champions League 2nd Round, they now have the honour of playing Newcastle in the 3rd round. Newcastle travel to Belgrade on Aug 13th for the first leg, whilst the home tie at St James Park is set for 27th Aug. HOWAY-THE-LADS!!

27/07/03 FA Asia Cup Final: Newcastle 0 Chelsea 0 (Chelsea win 5-4 on penalties) : Well it ended in a way many called exciting, but for us Geordies was just a reminder of many a penalty shoot-out heartache for club and country. Whilst the Chelski edged the 90 minutes and Shay Given pulled off match saving saves, one after the other, whatever the outcome it was a proud chance to be standing shoulder to shoulder with fellow Geordies, and before our voices gave out, chant the roof off! This tournament was about more than just the Asia Cup (and the trophy didn't look like any cup I've ever seen..at least Chelski wont get the chance to drink champagne out of it!)... it was about meeting up with fellow Toon fans from far and wide, as the Singapore Lads sat side by side with the Malaysian Toon Army, Geordies from Australia, Bali, Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Dubai and of course the UK. On Sunday before the match, our meeting venue, Hard Rock Cafe was packed with Black & White shirts like any Toon Pub just before kick-off, flags flying, beer flowing, chants warming up, it was great to be home!! And we got on TV , again....

Meeting Lads from everywhere, getting a chance to see the team up close training, and the sound of loads of Geordie accents again, here's to the Lads of the Toon Army, where ever you may be. It was a pleasure to meet you all.. Howay The Lads!! .. (& send us your pics to put on the site!)

Meawhile the football... Aye.. well even after spending 37million pound, Chelski still couldn't beat us in 90 minutes!! TOON TOON ....

24/07/03 FA Asia Cup: Newcastle United 2 Birmingham City 1 The Lads and Lasses from NUFCsingapore were all there in Bukit Jalil to see the Toon win the opening game of the tournament. We will play either Chelsea or Malaysia on sunday as a result. In the first half Newcastle were probing continuously with Bellamy, Bowyer and in Particular Dyer proving livewires. Bellamy was eventually floored for a penalty which Shearer converted. Also as a result Birmingham went down to ten men. In the second half Birmingham proved very resilient with 10 men and gave a good account of themselves. They won a penalty when Bramble bumbled over Birminghams Devlin. Only 4 minutes after this Ameobi arrived as a sub and quickly restored our lead with a pin point header from a Bellamy cross. The game should then have been brought level to 2-2 but Birmingham missed an absolute sitter of an open goal. How we laughed! As the final whistle went, only about 1 second after in fact Viana lashed a 30yard shot which flew into the net, the goal keeper only managing to get his finger tips to it. He was literally running up to kick it as the whistle went. Pity, it would have been a memorable goal to seal any match.

Also at the end when scanning the crowd, the cameras managed to pick out the NUFCsingapore crowd as the Geordies to zoom in on. We were on TV again! Hello Mum!!

Howay the Lads!!
