23/07/06 NUFC.sg 8 Hengs Team 1 The NUFC Singapore team stormed to an 8-1 victory in our first friendly of the season at Marina South! Goals were: Keegan 3, Khairul 2, Tim 2, Jake 1. A great performance by the whole team, & a solid debut for our own Ridzuan also. Special thanks to Jason for organising the match. (Click the pic to enlarge)

27/11/05 NUFCsg @ Sentosa: Three NUFCsg 5-a-side teams played in the Beach Soccer tournament at Palawan Beach, Sentosa, on Sunday. All had great fun, results: Newcastle Singapore 0-3 & 0-0 / Geordie Boot Boys 0-0 & 1-1 / Magpie Rangers 0-2 & 1-0. One victory, many draws, couple of defeats, lots of fun, and a black & white day on the beach for all. Howay-the-Lads! (Click on pic left to enlarge).

22/10/05 NUFCsg 1 AsianBookies "Sharks" 5. A match organised at short-notice saw 19 lads answer the call (no mean feat during the month of Ramadan). Going in at half time down 0-2 after conceding 2 weak goals and an injury to our young keeper Ben after a goal mouth collision, a few new faces were given a run out in a mixed 2nd half that saw us concede 3 more before finally Keegan broke on the left, drew the keeper out, then fired home from the edge of the box to get us on the score sheet. HTL!

14/08/05 NUFCsg 2 Arsenal-sg 8 An enjoyable if heavy defeat saw us go down 4-0 in the first half, and then 4-2 in the second after a partial fight back, the loan of one of our keepers to Arsenal proving a very costly gesture. A great attendance by players and spectators (over 30 pax of all ages for NUFCsg) made for a memorable & fun occasion, fully played in a truly friendly spirit. Our thanks to the Arsenal lads for a great game, and a rematch when our full squad is available is being planned. Next up: hopefully the Bayern Munich fans. HTL.!

03/07/05 NUFCsg 0 Citibank 3. The NUFCsg team turned out for a 3rd rematch with Citibank on a sunny Sunday morning at Alexandra Hospital pitch once again. A five month lay-off saw the lads take a while to find their rythm, conceding two in the 1st half. The 2nd half saw some cohesive play as the team found its shape, and some promising displays all over the pitch. With more match practice, the forthcoming "season" looks promising. Well done to all who turned out. HTL!

20/03/05 Singapore Mags runners-up in Beach Soccer Tournament! The Singapore Magpies finished 2nd out of 16 teams at the Lim Boon Heng 5-a-sideChallenge Trophy on Siloso Beach, Sentosa. Having qualified 2nd in the group stage the team cruised through the semi-final for a re-match with Olympique de Singapour (Marsaille fans) in the tournament final, earlier beaten 2-1 in the group. Within sight of the cup, injuries & a hard schedule took their toll as the Mags played through the pain barrier in a display of awesome teamwork to fill the Geordie nation with pride despite a 0-3 loss. Well done to those who turned out at Sentosa! HOWAY-THE-LADS!

20/02/05 NUFCsg 1 Central Park 4 A passionate display from the NUFCsg lads with a large team turnout & many new faces. Going down 0-3 in the 1st half the team gradually grew in confidence in the 2nd, and whilst conceding one, struck back as Khairul converted after some intense NUFCsg pressure in the opposition penalty area. Playing 5-4-1 with Keegan doing much running up front, this performance holds much promise. Generally a sports-man-like friendly, with credit to both teams. Howay-The-Lads!

03/10/04 NUFCsg 3 Citibank 3. The NUFC Singapore team turned out for a rematch with Citibank on a sunny Sunday morning at Alexandra Hospital pitch. After a slow start conceding 2 goals, the lads faught back to 2-2, Dave heading in our 1st, Keegan then bending in a corner for our 2nd. Citibank then scored an easy goal, but Keegan grabbed our 3rd via a tap in after neat approach play by Boy. An entertaining & solid display. Howay-the-lads!!

04/09/04 NUFCsg 2 British Club Vets 3. A good turn out & committed team display with 2nd half goals from Dino & Raja ensuring a 2-1 lead at one point. Our starting midfield was decimated in the 1st half after a clash of heads following a heavy challenge, with James taken to hospital for treatment, & Danial later forced to sit out proceedings. The team quickly regrouped, & whilst conceding one in the 1st half, battled back with some sophisticated play in the 2nd, Dino scoring with a great shot, then Raja's looping header making it 2-1. Unfortunately we couldn't hold out for the win, conceding two further goals as legs tired. A very promising display, possibly the best to date, against strong opposition. Well done to all. Our best wishes from the whole team to James for a speedy and full recovery. Howay-The-Lad.

28/08/04 NUFCsg 2 Ex-UST StrikeForce 4. The lads put in an improved performance, despite being 2-0 down at half-time, a goal from Keegan, and then an own-goal greatly assisted by amongst others, Keegan, got us back into the match. Despite conceding two more, the lads piled on the pressure in the final minutes, hitting the post several times (including an inspired long range lob from Dave). A promising dedicated display, as match fitness and understanding greatly improved over previous games. Well done to all team members for a decent turn out, and display, on what was a hot Saturday afternoon in Sengkang.

22/08/04 NUFCsg 1 Oranje Team 3. The lads took a suprise lead within the opening 10 seconds by a goal from Khairul. It was well taken from just outside the box, sending the ball to the left corner of the goal. Afterwards, the lads were forced to defend, and conceded three goals in the first half. Second half as usual was a better performance, but we were still unable to convert our chances, Keegan and Stanley having many but never really testing the opposition goal keeper until the final whistle. Squad : Greg, Dom, Norman, Shaun, Adi, Zaid, Vincent, James, Khairul, Stanley, Keegan. Subs : Dalif, Rueban, Dave. Manager : Boy.

07/08/04 NUFCsg 1 SSSC 5 The NUFC Singapore lads turned out for a friendly with an experienced Singapore Spurs Supporters team, going down 4-0 in the 1st half (with two NUFCsg efforts hitting the post), then putting in a resolute performance in the 2nd half, Keegan scoring with a well taken strike after some neat approach work, only for us to concede another goal in the final seconds. With more regular friendlies under our belt, this fixture will be revisited in the future. (click on pic left to enlarge). The match was also featured on www.nufc.co.uk (link here) Cheers to all who came down! HOWAY-THE-LADS!

06/06/04 NUFCsg 1 Citibank NA 1. A slightly below strength NUFCsingapore team managed to snatch a one-all-draw game against the Citibank 'A' team. NUFCsg manufactured a lot of chances, finally converting one in the second half. The leveller was a brilliant and well taken effort by Vincent halfway through the 2nd period! Howay-the-Lads!

09/05/04 NUFCsg 0 Red"SAF" 3 After conceding 3 first half goals, the lads faught back with a better display in the 2nd half, but were unable to score.

02/05/04 NUFCsingapore 3 Central Park FC 3 Another highly motivated display by the lads playing at Marina South pitch on Sunday, leading 2-0 after only 15 minutes, then to be 2-3 down with 15 minutes to go. A strong fighting attitude saw us grab an equaliser, then going on to threaten to win the game. Goals courtesy of Dino, Omar & Tony. Next match: 9th May 9am Venue: Ubi Field. Howay-the-Lads!

25/04/04 NUFCsingapore 5 Blue 3 Strong display by the NUFCsingapore lads as well taken goals by Keegan, Dino and Omar (3!) saw us leading 5-1! A few mistakes by the ref couldn't stop the lads from notching up their 2nd friendly victory on a very hot Sunday morning. Well done to all! Next friendly is at Marina South, 3.00pm Sunday 2nd May, join us! HOWAY-THE-LADS!!

01/02/04 NUFCsingapore 1 Spider 1 On the local friendly scene, the NUFCsingapore lads faught hard to earn a draw against local team Spider. Conceding from a corner in the 1st half, the lads faught back to force a penalty minutes later, Keegan firing home from the spot. Thereafter both sides went close, but NUFCsg had the better chances, Dino going close when one-on-one with the keeper. It was a great turn-out by all in the NUFCsg team for our first match of 2004. The new EPL fan club league is set to kick-off in March. Watch this space for further news! Meanwhile soccer training continues every Sunday. Howay-the-lads!

7/12/03 NUFCsingapore 3 Orange 1 The lads achieved a victory in only our 2nd ever friendly match! A great display, goals from Tim, Dino and Alvin, with a penalty save by our Keeper too! Well done to all..we salute you.. HOWAY-THE-LADS!

30/11/03 NUFCsingapore 3 Spider 6 The NUFCsingapore team turned out for its 1st friendly game against local side Spider with a very promising display! Conceding an early goal, the lads fought back as the team slowly began to gell together, Keegan scoring from a 20 yard free kick, Dino adding another in the second half after a quick counter attack, and Keegan scoring from the penalty spot after 'going down' in the box. Some dubious referee decisions didn't deter the lads from a very competitive display. HOWAY-THE-LADS!!
